Tucked away in east Akron, The Bomb Shelter has been showing our customers how to fit the objects of yesterday into today’s world since 2011. This retro, antique superstore opened with 18,000 square feet of warehouse space and a vision of finding the unique treasures we love and bringing them to the public.
We are about giving a second, or third, life to the things from our childhoods. With a collection of items from over 1,000 different places around the world, there is bound to be a reminisce of your youth. Our space is arranged for viewing and engaging idea making— it’s a vintage museum where everything is for sale! We focus on salvaging and saving old buildings and houses so our customers can be inspired to re-use and re-purpose for today.
The Bomb Shelter is a place to relive the last century and carry its treasures into the next so… together we may bring the past to a whole new generation. Our guests will chuckle, stir memories,be inspired into creativity and be educated on the benefits of reusing, purposing, and up-cycling… all at The Bomb Shelter Store.

“I’m having a hard time putting my feelings for the Bomb Shelter into words, so forgive me if this gets rambly and incoherent.
This place has an almost unending collection of everything from antique furniture and decor to mid-century modern kitsch. If you’re a collector of just about anything, you WILL find it here. This is, without question, the largest store of its kind that I have ever seen. Give yourself plenty of time to wander. Browsing here gives you a feeling of wandering though an Americana museum…except better, because you can buy everything!
I’ve been curating kitschy tiki bar items for a while, and on my first visit to the Bomb Shelter, I scored the ultimate tiki bar wall decor: a velvet Elvis. For thirty dollars. Suffice to say, the prices are reasonable!
This is a place I cannot wait to go back to, but for the sake of my wallet, I probably should!”
